Lowdown is excited to announce that a new face is joining the Westside Circus team - Matt Wilson has been appointed as their new Circus Director.

Matt is bringing a tentfull of experience to the table and has been working professionally for over 20 years as a circus acrobat, actor, stuntman, singer, musician and director. He has performed with companies such as Circus Oz, Arena Theatre, Malthouse Theatre, Dislocate, Rock'n'Roll Circus, Circus Monoxide, Legs on the Wall and many more. Not only is he knowledgable, but wordly as well, having extensive experience in touring nationally and internationally to New York, London, Munich, Vienna, Seoul - and Mt. Isa.

As well as teaching performance and coordinating social circus projects at the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA), he also directed several student productions.

Matt recently performed the premier season of his show 'Memoirs of a Human Cannonball' at the Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne Comedy Festival.

Matt is no stranger to the Westside Circus programme - he is the proud father of two daughters, one of whom has attended Westside Circus classes for the past year.

“It’s an exciting time for Westside Circus, where great work and meaningful programs are being delivered to our diverse community. Matt’s appointment affirms our commitment to creating high quality programs for young people through circus arts,” says Lena Cirillo, the Executive Director of Westside Circus.
