Wild West Comedy Festival

posted Sunday, 1 Nov

Jo Marsh has been appointed the new co-director of the Wild West Comedy Festival for 2010. As a festival organiser and theatre practitioner, she brings a wealth of experience to the Wild West Comedy Festival. Having worked in the WA arts industry for the last fifteen years, she looks forward to bringing a new and exciting direction to this year’s festival. ‘Perth may be the most isolated city in the world but our comedy scene is a thriving one,’ Marsh says. ‘I look forward to showcasing our local talent as well as Eastern States and international acts in the twelve day festival.’ The Wild West Comedy Festival will run in 2010 from 19 – 30 May. It kicks off with a Comedy Debate at the start of the festival, and finishes with a Gala Showcase, both at the Astor Theatre. The 10 days in between will be jam packed with comedy shows, workshops, films, artwork and hilarity. Primarily based within the Northbridge precinct, audiences can walk along James Street, see a show, take in a movie and then schmooze with comedians afterwards at the Festival Club upstairs at the Brass Monkey Hotel. Artists can register their interest on the website from September 2009 and this year the Wild West Comedy Festival will be supporting local and Eastern States acts with slots for supported festival venues.
