World Premiere of 2039

posted Monday, 1 Nov

With a stellar cast working hard in rehearsals, Tantrum Theatre's final major production of 2010 promises to be a funny and thrilling way to cap the company's hugely successful theatrical year.

2039 is an edgy, satiric, black comedy that looks to the future to examine the present. Directed by Brendan O'Connell, this dark, dystopian political thriller will use eye-catching multimedia techniques, including the integration of film and movement.

Featuring the diverse acting talents of Tantrum's Senior Ensemble, this new play by one of Newcastle's most popular dramatists, Carl Caulfield will explore ideas about religion, freedom, uses of technology, surveillance, terrorism, celebrity, and notions of reality.

Tickets will sell fast so get in early to secure a seat! To see the performance that will close out the Civic's 2010 Inspirations Playhouse season, catch 2039 at the Playhouse, Civic Theatre (399 Hunter Street, Newcastle) from 18-27 November, 2010. Tickets are $30 ($26 concession and groups 8+) and are available through Ticketek by calling (02) 4929 1977 or heading online.

There will also be 20 tickets priced at $20 each for people aged 30 and under, available at the Playhouse box office one hour prior to each performance. Once the allocation has been sold, tickets will revert back to the prices listed above.
