At the end of this year Lenine Bourke, YPAA's energetic Executive Director, will be stepping down after a very productive 2.5 years, leaving some very spiffy ED shoes to be filled.
"We congratulate and thank Lenine for her endeavours and wish her all the very best in the future," said Catherine Baldwin, YPAA Chair.
The YPAA Board will be manning the hunt for Lenine's replacement and is calling for Expressions of Interest for the role of Executive Director via ArtsHub.
YPAA is a national membership association representing and promoting professional arts organisations and individual artists whose work focuses primarily on engaging children and young people in the arts. As the national peak body representing the arts for children and young people, YPAA provides a crucial link between members, the arts sector, the wider community and government.
YPAA is a nonprofit organisation with eight Board members, and head-quartered in Brisbane. It has a national office supported by a Marketing & Communications Officer and part-time administrative staff. The Executive Director works closely with the Chair and Board members to realise the vision of YPAA "to champion the power of art in the lives of young people."
YPAA members range from regional youth theatres to community arts practitioners to the education programs of major cultural organisations. A typical annual program includes professional development and networking opportunities in addition to regular services such as the YPAA newsletter and employment service. Working closely with the federal funding and policy body, the Australia Council and with each of the state /territory arts ministries, YPAA is the voice for arts activities for children and young people in Australia.
The Executive Director role has leadership and management responsibilities, and requires strong communication skills. Applicants will be responsible for Advocacy, Marketing and Membership Development, International Networking, Funding and Sponsorship, Board and Governance and General Administration duties.
Applicants will need to be highly motivated and self-directed with strong time management and IT skills and a commitment to the arts industry. Experience in advocacy, knowledge of the youth arts sector in Australia and experience in securing funding and sponsorship, and project and event management are a must.
