If your keen to to join (or rejoin) the Zen Zen Zo family in 2011, there are some important dates coming up:
Company Internship
In 2011 Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre will offer the 8th Company Internship Program. This innovative program provides one of the few opportunities in Australia for emerging artists (actors, directors,
producers, teachers & administrators) to acquire the skills and contacts necessary to make the transition
into the professional performing arts industry; or for established artists to re-skill and rejuvinate. The aim
is to cultivate arts leaders and creative entrepreneurs with the ability to carve out and sustain successful careers in the performing arts and creative industries.
Closely mentored by the Zen Zen Zo Artistic Director, Company Manager and other company members, the Interns undertake a series of intensive training units in acting, physical theatre, auditioning, networking, marketing, grant writing, teaching, directing, administration, finance, preparing budgets, fitness training, sports psychology, as well as meeting some of Australia's preeminent Arts Leaders, and performing in a Zen Zen Zo event.
The 2011 Company Internship will take place over a 5-month period (July - November). As the program will be both physically and psychologically demanding, the Internship needs to take top priority during this period and participants cannot undertake either full-time work or study.
Entrance is by application only, and a maximum of 8 Interns will be accepted into the program.
For more information on the Internship Program, including application details, please
refer to the Internship brochure
See the website for details of the program and application process and Internship Brochure.
Applications close 28th February, 2011.
Physical Actor Training (PAT)
Zen Zen Zo's popular Physical Actor Training has been running since 1996 and been the training ground for many of Brisbane’s best actors. The classes are designed specifically to equip actors for high energy, physical performance and develop a powerful stage presence. The primary inspiration for this training has come from the Suzuki Method of Actor Training (Suzuki Company of Toga, Japan) and the Viewpoints (SITI, New York).
The result is a process that cultivates the performer's physical energy, vocal quality and range, concentration, ensemble awareness and imagination. Physical Actor Training takes the actor out of the realm of daily life movement and habits and into a heightened state of physical awareness and expression. It suits individuals who enjoy a challenge and want to explore the possibilities of peak performance.
