Arena Theatre Company follows up its recent success at the 2010 Green Room Awards with great news for the upcoming 2011 seasons of Moth.

The production won three Green Room Awards at the Famous Spiegeltent in March: Rachel Burke - Best Lighting Design; Jethro Woodward - Best Sound/Composition, and playwright Declan Greene - Best New Original Writing for the Melbourne Stage.

This is the latest in a series of awards and nominations for 26 year old Declan Greene who received the Malcolm Robertson Prize and was nominated for a Victorian Premier’s Literacy Award last year. Greene said of his latest award,

“Moth was a hugely collaborative theatre project, so this prize is shared with the whole creative team: Chris Kohn, Maryanne Lynch, Sarah Ogden, Dylan Young, Jonathan Oxlade, Jethro Woodward, Dom Bartolo, and Rachel Burke – all of whom played a huge part in crafting this piece of text.”

Arena is thrilled to announce that actor Thomas Conroy will be joining the production in the role of Sebastian for Moth’s 2011 seasons. Conroy took home the Green Room Award for Best Male Performer for Something Natural But Very Childish by Dirty Pretty Theatre and La Mama (Independent Theatre category).

"Tom is an incredible performer -- smart and focused, with boundless energy. We're so happy he's working with us, and hugely excited to see what he brings to the role"
says Greene.

Conroy can currently be seen in the Hayloft Project’s Delectable Shelter at Theatreworks in St Kilda, Melbourne.

Moth will return to the CUB Malthouse 15 – 25 June 2011.

Building on the production’s success of 2010, including sold out audiences, critical acclaim and a plethora of awards, Arena is excited to announce that extra evening shows have been programmed for this return season.
