Australian Theatre Forum 2011 – coming soon!
Theatre makers and artsworkers from around Australia—working as independents, in large and small companies, in festivals and venues—will congregate in Brisbane for the second Australian Theatre Forum.
Coinciding with Brisbane Festival 2011, this forum will see cultural leaders and contemporary thinkers teasing out some of the big issues around practice, infrastructure and sustainability. Over three inspiring days, delegates will exchange experiences and ideas and build vision for a future where ‘business as usual’ is not an option.
The first ATF happened in Melbourne in May 2009, where around 300 theatre professionals from around Australia attended. It provided the first official meeting and conversation place for the theatre community in 25 years.
Now, theatre practitioners, producers, presenters and commentators have an opportunity to review the changes since 2009 and set new and dynamic directions for the sector. Hosting this national event in Brisbane positions the Queensland theatre community strategically within the national agenda.
Curated by Fiona Winning, alongside Associate Curator Diat Alferink, the ATF has received support from Australia Council, Arts Queensland, Brisbane City Council, Brisbane Powerhouse, Brisbane Festival, Theatre Network Victoria and Metro Arts.
WHEN: September 14-16
WHERE: Brisbane Powerhouse
