To celebrate our first public performance of Shaun Tan's The Red Tree Barking Gecko are on the hunt for four guest reviewers to review the show at our opening night on Saturday, 9th July.

Not only will you and a friend have a chance to mingle with VIPs, you will receive a signed copy of Shaun Tan's book The Red Tree and a $50 Wagamama Subiaco Voucher. Barking Gecko are looking for a guest reviewer in each of the following categories;
* 5 - 8 years
* 9 - 13 years
* 14 - 18 years
* Parent/Grandparent
To enter tell them in 100 words or less why you are the perfect person to review The Red Tree.
All entries should be emailed to Robbyn at Barking Gecko.
Final entries must be received by 5PM Tuesday, 31st May and winners will be notified by telephone by Friday, 17th June.

Barking Gecko's production of The Red Tree has been adapted for the stage and Directed by John Sheedy
and designed by Gypsy Taylor (Illustrator of the Pearlie Series).
Perth audiences will have the opportunity to experience the magic of Academy Award winner Shaun Tan in July when Barking Gecko Theatre Company presents an adaptation of his book, The Red Tree. Audiences will be transported to a strange world of peculiar creatures and dream-like landscapes. A young girl, having a bad day, navigates a curious and unfamiliar world, followed by a single red leaf - a reminder of hope, resilience and inspiration. Join our friend as she travels across the pages, accompanied by her constant companions who create a live soundtrack for her bold journey.

Shaun Tan was born in Perth, Western Australia. Shaun began drawing and painting images for science fiction and horror stories in small-press magazines as a teenager, and has since become best known for illustrated books that deal with social, political and historical subjects through surreal, dream-like imagery.
Many of Shaun's books including The Red Tree, The Rabbits, The Lost Thing and The Arrival have been widely translated throughout Europe, Asia and South America, and enjoyed by readers of all ages. Shaun has also worked as a theatre designer, and worked as a concept artist for the films Horton Hears a Who and Pixar's WALL-E.
Shaun has recently won an Oscar for his short animated film The Lost Thing.
