Patch Theatre Company specializes in creating beautiful and inspiring theatre for 4-8 year old children and their families.
One of Patch’s most popular shows, Mr McGee and the Biting Flea, returns for a limited Adelaide season in August at the Odeon Theatre in Norwood.
Mr McGee and the Biting Flea first premiered in 2005 to critical acclaim and has since gone on to complete many sell-out local, national and international tours, as well as taking out awards including a coveted Helpmann Award and an Adelaide Critics Circle Award.
Mr McGee and the Biting Flea features six whimsical stories by award-winning children’s writer, Pamela Allen, that emerge from dozens of suitcases and crates as three curious warehouse workers transform a storeroom into enchanting little miracles of music and play.
As reviewer Colin Rose in Sydney writes,
“A wonderful experience for children emphasizing the magic of theatre. This utterly adorable show for kids aged four to eight is something of a throwback, and I’m not just talking about its setting, a left-luggage office from the 1930s. Beautifully performed, Mr McGee and the Biting Flea wistfully evokes an innocent, handmade and literally playful era of storytelling and song that contrasts with our own age of electronic nannying via TV and DVD”.
Artistic Director, Dave Brown, says
“Mr McGee and the Biting Flea is one of our most popular and enduring productions. Children love this show and delight in seeing one of their most-loved books come to life. It’s a funny, warm and captivating show that has audiences engaged from start to end”.
Although made for 4-8 year olds, the appeal of Mr McGee and the Biting Flea is such that children - and adults- of all ages enjoy this theatre outing!
The production will be performed at the Odeon Theatre in Norwood on Saturday 13, 20 and 27 August at 1pm and 3.30pm. Bookings can be made by calling 8333 0444 or online.
