How often do we get the chance to see inside the minds and imaginations of our children? To see
their creative ideas realized on stage, with the support of industry professionals?
Bring the entire family, from babies to Nan to ONE DAY - a performance project created by St
Martins’ youngest members aged 5- 12 years and a team of professional artists who theatrically
explore a day in the lives of children, their parents and those around them.
Sarah Austin, director of the project says
"The cast of this show are devising their own work through improvisations, physical theatre and documentary style techniques. The kids have collected stories of people’s days; including their parents and siblings, school principals, family doctors, shopkeepers, journalists, fruiterers, neighbours and other kids.
They’ve learnt that adults go to meetings. A lot. And they’ve been given an opportunity to imagine what a perfect day would look like. Their ideas are both hilarious and profoundly moving.’
Seen through their eyes and told in their words, ONE DAY is a unique opportunity to see the extraordinary creative ideas of the very young.
ONE DAY is what makes the shows of St Martins Youth Arts Centre an integral part of the rich and diverse Melbourne theatre environment.
