A call to action from the Artistic Director of Tasmania Theatre Comapny

Dear Friend of TTC

You may have heard the news by now that the Tasmanian Government has cut all funding to the Tasmanian Theatre Company for 2012.

This came as a complete shock to the Board and staff as the TTC has been going from strength to strength in the last couple of years with audience numbers growing and an expanding artistic program.

If we are to influence the government a huge display of public support is critical.

We need to flood the Mercury, Lara Giddings office and the ABC website and Facebook page with supportive letters etc. The message is simple - we want a professional theatre company - we do not want to be the only state in Australia without a full time professional theatre company.

We want to be tactical and ensure a steady flow of correspondence, comments etc

We are asking for your help to keep our professional theatre company

This is what you can do:

1. Write letters to the editors of the Mercury and the Examiner and the Advocate

2. Send a copy of those letters to the Premier ... Email Lara

3. Send a message to ABC Radio through email  and Facebook

4. Get all your friends to do the same,


We want this campaign to run for a couple of weeks at least so rather than everyone emailing etc today lets do it in shifts:

If your surname starts with A B C D or E - do it NOW

If your surname starts with F G H or I do it this Friday or Saturday (2nd & 3rd September)

If your surname starts with J K L or M do it on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday next week (5th, 6th & 7th September)

If your surname starts with N O P or Q do it on Thursday, Friday or Saturday next week (8th, 9th & 10th September)

If your surname starts with R or S do it on Monday or Tuesday the following week (12th & 13th September)

If your surname starts with T U V W X Y or Z do it on Wednesday , Thursday or Friday the following week (14th, 15th & 16th September)

MARK IT ON YOUR CALENDAR, PUT A REMINDER IN YOUR PHONE - DON'T FORGET - WE ONLY GET ONE SHOT AT THIS.
