Through the words of young Australians, treasured memories and the profound effect of dementia on the elderly and their loved ones will be presented in the world premiere, Also a Mirror directed by Glenn Hayden.
Written by award-winning South Australian playwright, Sean Riley (The Angel & the Red Priest, Beautiful Words, Significant Others and 2011 Brink Production Skip Miller’s Song) there is dignity and humour in this production that demonstrates the depth and strength of love.
The collaboration with aged care services provider ECH has allowed the cast and creative team to discover real-life stories and recollections with ECH clients, providing insight and cross-generational
communication unlike any other.
“One day, we will have stories this interesting,” says young cast member Poppy Mee.
“This project has been a celebration of the voices of our elders. I could not be more impressed with the dignity, humour and beauty that the creative teams and the young cast have injected into a story that brings the full emotional impact of dementia to the stage. Also a Mirror is a highly poetic and theatrical exploration of a disease that is nothing less than tragic,“ says director, Glenn Hayden.
