The National Talent Competition is an opportunity for young Australians aged 12-25 to showcase their talents by entering five talent categories: RockIT (music), WriteIT (literature), ShootIT (film), SnapIT (photography) and DesignIT (graphic design).

The National Youth Week 2010 theme is „Live It Now? and young people are encouraged to embrace their creativity. There are some great Sony prizes up for grabs!

Entries can be submitted in two key categories; Junior (12-17) and Senior (18-25). Renowned industry judges will determine the overall winner. People?s Choice winners will also be selected via an online poll.

International bestselling novelist and industry judge of this year?s WriteIT category, Tara Moss, supports 2010 National Youth Week and is encouraging young Australians everywhere to get involved.

“It is important to encourage young people to read and put pen to page to contribute the lasting voice that is only possible through the longevity of the written word. I look forward to reading the works of some of Australia's best emerging writers, as judge for the writing component of the National Talent Competition,”
said Tara Moss.

Legendary Australian performer, Marcia Hines says it?s not every day that you get to skip the queues and have your own personal work judged by somebody already in the industry.

“The National Talent Competition not only gives young people an outlet for expression but a great career launch pad. I can?t express how important it is to utilise every opportunity that comes your way to ensure your passion doesn?t go unheard. I?m excited to lend my vision to the next lot of entertainers about to enter the world stage.”

The prize line up includes digital SLR cameras, notebook computers, home audio systems and hand-held cameras, thanks to support from Sony Entertainment. The total prize pool is valued at over $38,000.

Young people can also enter the Win Free Stuff competition by answering simple questions in twenty-five words or less.
