Performance Makers is a new Backbone workshop, facilitated by Thomas Quirk.
Performance Makers is for young artists who are looking to be challenged and take the next step. These workshops build on the performance skills students may have already learnt at school or in previous Backbone workshops, and applies these skills to a rehearsal room where a contemporary performance is created from scratch under the guidance and facilitation of a director. This workshop series has been developed to allow young people to engage with new forms and performance styles which are currently at the forefront of the performing arts.
Throughout the term participants will gain necessary tools in creating devised and collaborative performance by participating in practical, improvisational and movement exercises. During the weekly workshops participants will learn how to communicate meaning and story to an audience in new ways; through visual metaphor, movement and vocal composition.
