Black Face, White Mask: A play about transforming identity

A fast paced new drama/comedy about what it means to be Afro-Australian.

Black Face, White Mask is a fast-paced and confronting play by a new theatre company – The Flemington Theatre Group – who are predominantly from Horn of Africa backgrounds. Directed by Dave Kelman and Cuong Nguyen, it showcases a unique new cultural voice from Melbourne’s inner West.

The play focuses on the lives of eight young people and what it means to be Afro-Australian as they confront casual racism and family tensions. It is fast, funny and in your face, exploring the complexity of contemporary Australian society from an Afro-Australian perspective with a direct, challenging blend of drama and comedy.

Blitz 3011 Hip Hop Workshop

Blitz 3011 is the sequel to the amazing Rhythms of the Streets project.

It is a Hip Hop Rap/Hip Hop Dance/Theatre project run by Western Edge Youth Arts in partnership with Maribyrnong Youth Services that explores contemporary issues facing young people aged between 12-25 in Melbourne’s west.

It will have top Hip Hop and Theatre artists working with young people to create an exciting new community performance. These workshops are for anyone interested in Hip Hop, so don't miss out!
