Navigation Arts Business Training is an accredited training program designed to provide young emerging artists and arts workers with the business skills and know-how they need to convert their talent into a sustainable career in the creative industries.
By the end of the course Navigation participants are expected to:

This two-day program will provide you with a unique opportunity to:
• Map your personal strengths and leadership capacities;
• Discover different leadership models and styles;
• Discuss practical strategies around creating impact;
• Enhance your skills in group facilitation, decision making, planning and idea generation; and
• Explore ways to extend the reach of your projects within and beyond local communities.

A little about us
Youth Arts Queensland (YAQ) is Queensland’s peak body for children and young people in the arts. Our organisation represents, supports and promotes a diverse and thriving youth arts sector in Queensland and plays a critical leadership role in driving forward Queensland’s Horizons: Children and Young People and the Arts Sector Vision 2009 – 2013.
We are a membership based organisation and provide current information, advice and referral, professional development training and career mapping services, networking forums, profiling opportunities, support in funding applications and auspicing agreements and equipment to our members and other stakeholders. Our members include youth arts workers and organisations, freelance workshop facilitators, young and emerging artists and artsworkers, education departments of larger arts organisations, educators, youth workers, librarians, policy makers, representatives from local, state and federal government bodies and others who engage with children and young people in an arts context.
We also manage programs specifically designed to support the professional development of young and emerging artists, artsworkers and cultural producers from Queensland and beyond.
Programs currently managed by YAQ include:
• JUMP - the National Mentoring Program for Young and Emerging Artists funded by the Australia Council for the Arts www.jumpmentoring.com.au
• YAMP – a state basedmentoring program for young and emerging artsworkers
• Starburst – a mentoring program for young artists and artsworkers from regional and remote Queensland
• Navigation - a nationally accredited arts business training course
• Transit Lounge Caboolture – a support program for young creatives from the Moreton Bay region
